Joint Statement by Latvian, Estonian, Lithuanian Foreign Ministers in support of Ukraine

We, the Foreign Ministers of Lithuania, Estonia, and Latvia, condemn Russia‘s open large-scale aggression against an independent, peaceful, and democratic state of Ukraine in the strongest possible terms.

This unacceptable act of aggression is a blatant violation of international law, of all civilized norms. It is also  a crime against the people of Ukraine. The entire international community must firmly condemn Russia‘s aggression and impose the toughest possible sanctions in response to such outrageous acts, including disconnecting Russian banks from the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication (SWIFT).

Furthermore, Russia must be isolated politically.

We reaffirm our unwavering support for the sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders. We must continue providing political, economic, financial, humanitarian, and other assistance, including weapons, ammunition, and other defensive military equipment to Ukraine against Russia. At this most difficult time, we stand united with the people of Ukraine. Dear Ukrainian friends, you have our full support. We stand ready to work together to bring the perpetrators of this heinous attack to justice. Slava Ukraini!
