JAPANESE NUCLEAR ENERGY SPECIALISTS VISIT LITHUANIA

On August 29, representatives of the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Japanese Integrated Support Center for Nuclear Non-Proliferation and Nuclear Security (ISCN) and Hitachi GE discussed possible cooperation and support to the recently established Center of Excellence for Nuclear Security in Lithuania.

Possibility of signing a cooperation agreement between the competent institutions of Lithuania and the ISCN was discussed at the meeting.

The ISCN representatives presented their training programmes on nuclear safety, non-proliferation and the implementation of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) safeguards and invited Lithuanian experts to participate in the international courses organised by the Center.

The Japanese delegation also met with the representatives from the State Nuclear Power Safety Inspectorate, the Radiation Protection Center, the Visaginas nuclear power plant and the Center of Excellence for Nuclear Security.
