JAPAN WILL CONTINUE TO PROVIDE AND STRENGTHEN AID TO AFGHANISTAN’S GHOR PROVINCE

On 6 February at Munich Security Conference, Lithuania’s Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of National Defence Rasa Juknevičienė met with Koichi Takemasa, Japanese State Secretary for Foreign Affairs. Issues of bilateral relations, projects of support for Afghanistan and cooperation in international organizations were discussed at the meeting.

The Minister thanked the high-ranking Japanese diplomat for Japan’s active contribution in supporting Afghanistan’s Ghor Province. The Lithuanian-led Provincial Reconstruction Team operates in this province. The State Secretary assured that Japan would continue to provide and strengthen its aid.

During the meeting, Japan’s relations with the European Union, cooperation within the United Nations framework and other important issues of international security policy were also discussed.
