ISRAELI GOVERNMENT HAILS COOPERATION WITH LITHUANIA IN RECENT YEARS
At the meeting with Lithuanian Ambassador in Tel Aviv Darius Degutis on 7 January, Israel’s Minister of Public Diplomacy and Diaspora Affairs Yuli Edelstein said that the Government of Israel hailed intensifying cooperation with Lithuania in recent years.
From 2009 to 2012, more than 20 high-level bilateral visits were organised, economic relations developed steadily. In 2011, volumes of bilateral trade and tourism increased by more than 50%, and regular direct flights between Tel Aviv and Vilnius were launched.
Minister Edelstein expressed his belief that this successful bilateral partnership would continue also after the Knesset elections this month and that Lithuania’s forthcoming Presidency of the EU Council would create more favourable conditions for the development of the partnership.
