INTERNATIONAL PREMIERE OF THE FILM “BACK TO THE MAP” ON OCCASION OF LITHUANIAN INDEPENDENCE RESTORATION DAY

The film “Back to the Map” will be shown for the first time in Lithuanian diplomatic representations in Brussels, Moscow, Saint-Petersburg and Tbilisi in commemoration of the 16th anniversary of Lithuania’s independence.

The documentary “Back to the Map” tells about Lithuania’s return to the political map of the world, the restoration of its statehood and Lithuania’s way to the membership in the European Union.

The film in three languages: Lithuanian, English and Russian is based on archive materials.  Famous Lithuanian and foreign politicians and diplomats shared their recollections; the revival of Lithuanian society was depicted.

The firm contains recollections and impressions of Iceland’s Minister of Foreign Affairs of that time John Baldwin Hannibalsson, former U.S. National Security Advisor Zbygniew Brzezinski, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Denmark Uffe Ellemann Jensen, and British journalist Edward Lucas who had received the first Lithuanian visa.

The film was made by journalists Rita Miliūtė, Eglė Rašimaitė, Evaldas Petrauskas and Reimantas Valuckas. Archives of Lithuanian Television, Reuters, the European Parliament, the European Council and Georgian television were used in the film.
