INTERDEPARTMENTAL MEMORANDUM OF LITHUANIAN AND COLUMBIAN AGREEMENT SIGNED IN VILNIUS
Lithuanian Foreign Minister Antanas Valionis and Columbian Foreign Minister Carolina Barco signed on January 31 an interdepartmental memorandum of Lithuanian and Columbian Agreement on the creation of mechanism of general political consultations on the issues relevant to both states.
During the meeting the issues of Lithuanian and Columbian political, economic, cultural cooperation, bilateral relations in the context of the European Union and Latin American region were discussed.
The meetings that were to be held in Lithuania between the Columbian Foreign Minister and Lithuanian Prime Minister Algirdas Brazauskas, Deputy Chairman of the Seimas Gintaras Steponavičius were cancelled due to Minister C.Barco‘s plane being behind schedule.
This is the first official visit of high ranking Columbian official to our country. From Lithuania the Columbian delegation goes on an official visit to Latvia, Estonia and Finland.
Lithuania established diplomatic relations with Columbia on August 5, 1993.
