Individuals imprisoned by the Belarusian regime arrive in Lithuania

On 16 September, 25 persons who had been imprisoned by the Belarusian regime and were freed through U.S.-mediated efforts arrived in Lithuania. There are no Lithuanian citizens among them.

Among those released were Iryna Zlobina, CEO of the Belarusian news portal tut.by, journalist Andrei Aliaksandrau, and others.

Lithuanian authorities assisted with border crossing procedures and are ensuring the safe transport of the released political prisoners from the border to their place of accommodation. Some of the individuals did not have identification documents. Medical personnel are also on standby, ready to provide medical assistance if needed.
