In Washington D.C., e-PINE political directors agree to cooperate more closely in the field of security

Political Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Rolandas Kačinskas called on the United States of America and Nordic countries to contribute to the implementation of decisions taken at the NATO Wales Summit on measures to strengthen collective defence, as well as to remain active allies of Lithuania and the other Baltic states in dealing with energy, cybersecurity, information and economic security. “In the face of Russia’s increasing aggression it is especially important to strengthen the interaction between the U.S.A., the Baltic and Nordic countries in the field of regional security,” noted R.Kačinskas.

E-PINE representatives also held meetings with Charles Kupchan, the White House’s Senior Director for European Affairs, officials of the U.S. Department of State, and participated in a discussion at the Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS).

The meetings focused on transatlantic cooperation, closer e-PINE cooperation in the field of security, the EU-US negotiations on a Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP).

Estonia, which coordinates the e-PINE activities this year, has also organized a political directors’ meeting in Kyiv and a high-level cyber security experts’ meeting in Tallinn.
