IN TORONTO, LITHUANIA’S FOREIGN MINISTER DISCUSSED BILATERAL ECONOMIC COOPERATION
On 2 May in Toronto, Lithuania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Audronius Ažubalis met with Canada’s Minister of International Trade Peter Van Loan before he left for the EU-Canada Summit in Brussels.
The Ministers discussed the most important issue on the EU-Canada co-operation agenda - the negotiations regarding the Free Trade Agreement.
Ministers A.Ažubalis and P.Van Loan noted that the agreement would be beneficial and would help to boost the economy on both sides.
Lithuania’s Foreign Minister presented business development opportunities in the Baltic Sea Region and informed Minister P.Van Loan about the Baltic Development Forum Summit and the Baltic Sea States Summit that will be held in Vilnius on 1-2 June.
The possibility to send a Canadian business mission to Lithuania and other Northern European countries and Baltic States was also discussed.
On 3 May, Minister A.Ažubalis and businessmen are participating in the seminar of the Lithuanian Trade Mission to Canada at the Ontario Investment and Trade Centre in Toronto. The topic of the seminar is the Lithuanian information technology sector and possibilities for Lithuanian companies to enter Canada’s market, as well as legal regulations governing the promotion of business relations. The Minister is also meeting with high-ranking officials from the province of Ontario.
In Toronto, the Lithuanian business delegation will visit the Innovation Synergy Centre in Markham, the Open Text IT Consolidation and the Parliament of Ontario.
