IN THE HAGUE, OFFICIALS DISCUSS POSSIBILITIES FOR LITHUANIAN-DUTCH COOPERATION IN THE FIELD OF CONSULAR AFFAIRS
On 10 December in the Hague, Chancellor of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Kęstutis Jankauskas and Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands Ed Kronenburg shared the experience of the two countries regarding the issues of work organization and activities’ efficiency in diplomatic missions and discussed bilateral cooperation in the field of consular affairs.
The officials evaluated the potential of cooperation between Lithuania and the Netherlands in the field of consular affairs, and possibilities to sign bilateral agreements on reciprocal representation for issuing visas and providing consular assistance.The officials also shared ideas on how the new European External Action Service (EEAS) and its EU delegations abroad could take better care of the European Union citizens. The officials agreed to make joint efforts to assess whether and how the EU delegations in third countries could provide consular assistance to the citizens of those EU member states, which do not have their own representation in the particular third country.
