IN STOCKHOLM, LITHUANIAN FOREIGN VICE-MINISTER PRESENTS LITHUANIA’S SECURITY DEFENCE POLICY PRIORITIES

On 21 October, the Lithuanian Embassy that performs functions of a NATO Contact Point Embassy in Sweden organised a roundtable discussion, during which the Lithuanian Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrius Krivas presented Lithuania’s security defence policy priorities.

The Lithuanian Foreign Vice-Minister presented an assessment of the current security situation in the region, reviewed key NATO issues, preparations for the next Eastern Partnership Summit in Vilnius.

According to A.Krivas, NATO continues to be the main guarantor of security in the region and Sweden is one of the most important partners to the Alliance.

The discussion was attended by representatives of Folk och Försvar (Society and Defence), Sweden’s one of the greatest non-governmental organisations in the field of security and defence. The organization’s delegation is to visit Poland and Lithuania at the end of October.

Initiated in 1940, Folk och Försvar holds its Annual National Conference in the north of Sweden. The conference is the foremost meeting-place for the Swedish security and defence policy community. The Association also organises courses, seminars, and study tours.
