IN RIGA, CONSULTATIONS OF LITHUANIAN AND LATVIAN POLITICAL DIRECTORS DISCUSS IMPORTANT ISSUES OF FOREIGN AND SECURITY POLICY

On 22 December in Riga, the consultations of political directors from Lithuanian and Latvian foreign ministries, Vytautas Leškevičius and Andris Razans, discussed topical issues of foreign and security policy: the European Union’s Eastern partnership initiative, the situation in Belarus and Ukraine, relations with Russia and the Nordic-Baltic-US cooperation.

The meeting also reviewed the preparation for the NATO summit in Chicago next year, the Middle East peace process and issues of energy security.

The diplomats exchanged their opinions about important issues on the agenda of bilateral relations between Lithuania and Latvia.
