IN MOSCOW, LITHUANIAN AMBASSADOR PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO THE PRESIDENT OF RUSSIA

In Moscow, Lithuanian ambassador Renatus Norkus presented credentials to President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev. After a solemn ceremony in the Kremlin, Lithuanian ambassador and the Russian President discussed key issues of bilateral cooperation.

Norkus said that for the two neighbouring countries - Lithuania and Russia - it was important to maintain good neighbourly relations and foster active bilateral cooperation between public institutions and businesses, in the sphere of culture and in other important areas of daily life.

“The best way to deal with the issues that are significant to both sides is through dialogue,” ambassador said.

Dmitry Medvedev hoped for constructive, pragmatic and mutually beneficial dialogue in various fields, including trade, humanitarian activities and cooperation in the Kaliningrad region. According to the Russian President, only such dialogue will strengthen mutual trust between the two countries.

Renatus Norkus is the sixth Lithuanian ambassador to Russia.

Lithuania and Russia re-established official diplomatic relations on 9 October 1991.
