Lithuania’s development co-operation project promoting women’s entrepreneurship received considerable interest in Georgia. At the Caucasus University on 14 September in Georgia, Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Audronius Ažubalis met with participants in the training programme who were selected from among many candidates.
“We are pleased that this training programme has received considerable attention and interest. I believe that your commitment and professional advice of Lithuanian teachers will help you to give flesh and blood to your ideas much easier and with greater success,” the Minister said. The meeting was also attended by Deputy Director of Vilnius University International Business School Laima Urbšienė, two teachers, President of Caucasus University Kakha Shengelia and representatives from the academic community.
A competition was organized and twenty women entrepreneurs were selected from nine regions of Georgia to take part in the training programme. The authors of the three best projects will be invited to Lithuania, where they will be able to gain more experience and establish new contacts.
As of 1 June, Vilnius University International Business School is implementing the project “Women in Georgia in the Context of Integration into European Union” (Phase II). Lithuanian Foreign Ministry finances the project from the funds of the Development Cooperation and Democracy Promotion programme.
