IN CZECH EMBASSY IN VILNIUS LITHUANIAN FOREIGN MINISTER EXPRESSES CONDOLENCES ON PASSING OF V.HAVEL

On 21 December at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Vilnius, Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Audronius Ažubalis signed the Condolence Book and expressed condolences on the death of former Czech President Vaclav Havel.

“We will always remember him as the leader of  the Velvet Revolution, a man who devoted his life to struggle against totalitarianism, supporting civil society and promoting democracy in the Czech Republic and throughout Europe,” A.Ažubalis said.

According to him, V.Havel was a source of inspiration for peaceful resistance to Soviet occupation and oppression. V.Havel’s support to Lithuania’s striving for independence was of great importance to Lithuanian people.
