IN CHISINAU, OFFICIALS PRESENT LITHUANIA’S EXPERIENCE IN INSTALLING E-SERVICE SOLUTIONS, DISCUSS FUTURE PRESIDENCY OF THE COUNCIL OF THE EU

On April 26 in Chisinau, Lithuania’s experience in installing electronic service solutions was presented at the meeting of the Moldovan-Lithuanian bilateral commission for European integration.The meeting was co-chaired by Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Audronius Ažubalis and Moldova’s Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Iurie Leancă.

Lithuania’s Deputy Minister of Justice and Lithuanian Viceminister of Internal Affairs, experts from State Food and Veterinary Service, Agency for Science, Innovation and Technology discussed the engagement of Lithuanian experts in bilateral projects for installing electronic service solutions in the courts of Moldova, creation of an electronic database for searching and drafting legal acts, and opportunities to participate in other e-governance projects.

The Minister noted that for three consecutive years Lithuania had been a leader in Internet penetration in Europe, one of the EU leaders in mobile usage and is highly ranked in terms of the use of information technology.

Director of the European Union Council Presidency Department of Lithuanian Foreign Ministry Remigijus Motuzas presented priorities of preparation for the Presidency of the Council of the EU in 2013.

At the bilateral meeting, Ažubalis and Leancă discussed successful participation of Moldova in the EU Eastern Partnership programme, the EU-Moldova negotiations on the deep and comprehensive free trade agreement and visa-free regime with the EU, preparations for the third Eastern Partnership summit in Vilnius in 2013.

The establishment of the Moldovan-Lithuanian bilateral commission for European integration was based on the declaration on cooperation in the field of European integration that was signed by the Prime Ministers of Lithuania and Moldova at the beginning of 2010. Annual meetings of the commission are held respectively in Vilnius and Chisinau.
