IN BRUSSELS, LITHUANIAN FOREIGN VICE-MINISTER DISCUSSES COMMITMENT OF THE PRIVATE SECTOR TO ACHIEVE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS
On 13 November in Brussels, the Lithuanian Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Rolandas Kriščiūnas attended a conference “Sustainable Development Goals - The Role of Business”, which was held as part of the global humanitarian and development aid event AidEx 2013. The conference discussed commitment of the private sector to achieve sustainable development goals and possible cooperation ways and principles of the post-2015 Development Agenda.
R.Kriščiūnas stressed that business had a vital impact on the development of countries, therefore, the future development agenda must mobilize all resources: public and private, local and international. According to the Lithuanian Foreign Vice-Minister, the resources must be innovatively utilized using an instrument of mixed resources, including from the public and private sectors, while socially responsible business must become a necessity and create a competitive advantage.
