IN ARMENIA, LITHUANIA’S FOREIGN VICE-MINISTER DISCUSSED ISSUES RELATED TO THE EASTERN NEIGHBOURHOOD

On 29 October in Yerevan, Lithuania’s Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Evaldas Ignatavičius took part in the international conference “Eastern Partnership – the Next Stage in European Integration” and delivered a speech about Lithuania’s experience in relations with its neighbours.

In the Vice-Minister’s opinion, this experience would be useful for Eastern European and South Caucasus countries in developing mutual relations. According to E.Ignatavičius, the Eastern Partnership initiative could present guidelines of internal reforms for the countries that are taking part in it.

Vice-Minister E.Ignatavičius met with Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbandian, who expressed satisfaction with the bilateral relations that were being actively developed and stressed that the potential of the economic cooperation between the two countries could be used even more effectively. E.Ignatavičius remarked that Lithuania was interested in developing its relations with South Caucasus.

The Vice-Minister informed that a visit of Lithuania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs to Yerevan was scheduled for the end of November. This visit will present a possibility to discuss specific cooperation projects among the countries, including also those projects that are part of the EU Eastern Partnership initiative.
