IMPORTANT ISSUES OF LITHUANIAN FOREIGN POLICY WERE DISCUSSED WITH THE EU AMBASSADORS IN VILNIUS

On 12 September during a working lunch with ambassadors of the EU Member States residing in Lithuania Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Petras Vaitiekūnas discussed topicalities of foreign policy of the new Lithuanian Government.

The issues that were addressed included Lithuania’s joining the Schengen zone, introduction of the Euro, visas for inhabitants of Kaliningrad region and other.

The participants of the meeting exchanged opinions on the EU neighbourhood policy, prospects of further enlargement of the EU, ratification of the Constitution for Europe. Lithuanian Foreign Minister underlined the need for closer cooperation between the EU and its Eastern neighbours.
