HUNGARIAN AMBASSADOR EXTENDED AN INVITATION TO LITHUANIAN FOREIGN MINISTER TO VISIT HUNGARY

On 18 January, during the meeting with Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Antanas Valionis Hungarian Ambassador to Lithuania Sandor Juhasz extended to the Minister an invitation from Hungarian Foreign Minister Ferenc Somogyi to pay an official visit to Hungary on 8 March.
A.Valionis accepted the invitation and asserted that he is sure this visit will contribute to the development of friendly relations between Lithuania and Hungary.The Minister and Hungarian Ambassador discussed topical issues of Lithuanian and Hungarian bilateral and regional cooperation, exchanged both countries’ opinions on new eastern neighbours of the EU.
During the forthcoming visit of A. Valionis to Hungary it is planned to inaugurate Lithuanian Embassy in Hungary, established in this country’s capital Budapest in October, 2004.
This to be the first official visit of Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs A.Valionis to Hungary. In 2001 the then Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs Janos Martonyi paid an official visit to Lithuania.
