HONORARY CONSULATE OF LITHUANIA OPENS IN PARMA

Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to the Italian Republic Šarūnas Adomavičius and Honorary Consul of the Republic of Lithuania in the Emilia-Romania region Giorgio Schiaretti opened the Honorary Consulate of Lithuania in the city of Parma (Viale Mentana 148) during a solemn ceremony on 4  December.

While greeting heads of the Emilia-Romania region and the city of Parma, representatives of culture and business, Š.Adomavičius welcomed the development of Lithuanian-Italian relations. He accentuated the importance of the Honorary Consul of Lithuania in Parma for building Lithuanian-Italian economic and cultural relations with the Emilia-Romania region and Parma. Ambassador also highlighted the role of the Consulate in promoting tourism to Lithuania and invited residents of the Emilia-Romania region and the city of Parma to visit Vilnius, European Capital of Culture 2009.

Currently seven Honorary Consulates of Lithuania are functioning in Italy (in Venice, Milan, Bari, Cagliari, Turin, Genoa, and Parma). It is planned to open new Honorary Consulates in Palermo and Naples, and to appoint an Honorary Consul in Florence next year.
