GREECE ALLOCATES HALF A MILLION EUROS FOR LITHUANIAN PROJECTS IN AFGHANISTAN’S GHOR PROVINCE

On 10 February at the Permanent Delegation of the Republic of Lithuania to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, Ambassador of Greece to NATO Thrasyvoulos Terry Stamatopoulos handed in a five hundred thousand Euros check to Ambassador Linas Linkevičius. The money is allocated for the development of Afghanistan’s Ghor province. In accordance with the bilateral agreement, Lithuania has undertaken a commitment to use the financial aid for development projects in the areas of health protection and education through the Lithuanian-led Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) in Ghor province.

Ambassador L.Linkevičius thanked Greece for the support and emphasized big potential of bilateral cooperation. The Ambassador said that it was meaningful to develop further cooperation between the two countries in Afghanistan, and that a participation of Greek experts in the Lithuanian-led PRT in Ghor province would be promising in such cooperation.
