FRENCH FOREIGN MINISTER TO VISIT LITHUANIA

On 10 February, French Minister of Foreign Affairs Michel Barnier arrives on a working visit in Vilnius. During the visit the Minister will meet with Lithuanian President Valdas Adamkus who will award M. Barnier a national decoration - the Cross of Commander of the Order of the Lithuanian Grand Duke Gediminas - for his merits to Lithuania and for help in integration to Transatlantic and European structures. It is also planned that French Foreign Minister will meet with the Chairman of the Seimas Artūras Paulauskas, Members of the Seimas Foreign Affairs and European Affairs Committees, the Prime Minister Algirdas Brazauskas, Foreign Minister Antanas Valionis. In course of the meetings it is planned to discuss more active Lithuanian- French cooperation in the EU context, European neighbourhood policy, EU financial perspective, Lisbon strategy, perspectives of ratification of the Treaty establishing a Constitution for Europe in EU member states and other topical issues. Michel Barnier will also attend Lithuanian Police’s Criminalistic investigation Centre.
