The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania received an affirmation from France on the completion of the legal procedures necessary for the agreement between the Lithuanian and French Governments concerning the status of the Lithuanian Diplomatic Mission building in Paris to come into force.
Lithuanian Foreign Minister Antanas Valionis and his then French counterpart Hubert Védrine signed the treaty on 13 December 2001 in Paris.
According to the agreement, the proprietary rights of the building go to France, but the country will reimburse Lithuania for the building lost in 1940.
