On 18 November, Lithuanian Foreign Vice Minister Justas Vincas Paleckis received US Ambassador to the Republic of Lithuania Stephen Donald Mull at the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Ambassador Mull acquainted Vice Minister Paleckis with the US initiative concerning the Baltic and Nordic States, which aims to strengthen the zone of security and stability in the region. The Ambassador underlined that Vilnius could continue playing an active role in the format of eight Baltic and Nordic States as well as in the group of NATO acceding countries.
The US Ambassador also informed on the preparations for the visit of President of the Republic of Lithuania Rolandas Paksas. Stephen Donald Mull underscored that by this invitation the United States wanted to express their gratitude for Lithuania’s support in the fight against terrorism as well as sending troops to Iraq and Afghanistan. According to the Ambassador, the Lithuanian President’s visit to the US should contribute to further development of dynamic bilateral relations.
