Foreign Ministry's new Political Director – Skusevičius
Darius Skusevičius, the new Political Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, took office this week. He succeeded Laimonas Talat-Kelpša, who was appointed Ambassador to the Netherlands in April.
Skusevičius has worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 2013; he served as Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2017 to 2019 and as Lithuania’s Ambassador to Canada from 2019 to 2024. Upon his return to Vilnius, he was appointed Ambassador-at-Large for the Coordination of Recovery and Reconstruction of Ukraine.
Skusevičius holds a Master's degree in Political Science from the Institute of International Relations and Political Science at Vilnius University and a Bachelor's degree in Management from ISM University of Management and Economics. In 2022, he was awarded the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' second-grade Medal “For Merits to Lithuanian Diplomacy”.
