FOREIGN MINISTRY UNDERSECRETARY TAKES PART IN THE SECURITY POLICY CONSULTATIONS BETWEEN THE ADRIATIC CHARTER MEMBERS, THE BALTIC STATES AND THE U.S. IN CROATIA
On 24 April Lithuanian Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Audrius Navikas left for Brijuni, Croatia to take part in the security policy consultations between the members of the Adriatic Charter, the Baltic States and the U.S.
During the consultations NATO members Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia and the U.S. together with the members of the Adriatic Charter Croatia, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) and Albania seeking for the Alliance’s membership are to discuss future prospects of NATO development, topicalities of NATO transformations, and possibilities of closer cooperation.
The Adriatic Charter was signed by the U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell and the foreign ministers of Albania, Croatia and Macedonia on 2 May, 2003. The charter based on the decision of the 2002 Prague Summit to continue NATO “Open Door” policy and reinforces the U.S. support for Albania’s, Croatia’s and Macedonia’s integration into the Euro-Atlantic institutions.
