FOREIGN MINISTRY UNDERSECRETARY TAKES PART IN EU DEVELOPMENT MINISTERS MEETING
On 24-25 October Lithuanian Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Oskaras Jusys participates in the informal meeting of the EU Development Ministers in the United Kingdom.
The aim of the meeting is to prepare for the formal meeting of Development Ministers as part of the General Affairs and External Relations Council (GAERC) and for the Sixth World Trade Organization’s (WTO) Ministerial Conference in Hong Kong.
EU Development Ministers will discuss the new EU Development policy strategy, which is developed in view of the European Council’s decision to increase the amount of assistance for implementation of the Millennium Development Goals.
Together with the European Commissioner for Development and Humanitarian Aid Louis Michel, European Commissioner for External Trade Peter Mandelson, the President of the African Development Bank Donald Kaberuka and the Chief of the Cabinet of the UN Secretary General Mark Malloch Brown the ministers will discuss the EU strategy towards Africa, more effective contribution to development, putting trade at the service of development, and talk about the results of September’s UN Summit on the Millennium Development Goals.
