FOREIGN MINISTRY UNDERSECRETARY STATED LITHUANIA'S POSITION TO LATVIAN AMBASSADOR ON APPLICATION OF MARKET PROTECTION MEASURES IN BILATERAL TRADE

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania is concerned about the increasing number of attempts to apply market protection measures to trade between the Baltic states. On 11 February, Lithuanian Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Darius Jurgelevičius stated this position to the Latvian Ambassador in Lithuania Maira Mora. Such measures jeopardize a proper operation of the trilateral Free Trade Agreement, development of business ties and are slowing down preparations by Baltic industries to compete successfully in the EU market.
