Foreign Ministry condemns Russia’s attempts to spread disinformation and justify its war in Ukraine
In response to the United Nations Security Council's Arria-formula meeting, organized by Russia in New York on 6 May, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania informs that it sees the event as Russia's ordinary cynical attempt to spread lies about the ongoing war that it has waged against Ukraine.
The Foreign Ministry reminds that the issue of ensuring accountability for war crimes committed in Ukraine was discussed in detail at the UN Security Council's Arria-formula meeting, organized by the Permanent Missions of Albania and France on 27 April. The meeting was attended by the Foreign Vice-Minister Mantas Adomėnas, who presented Lithuania's actions to hold Russia to account for its crimes committed in Ukraine, as well as voiced his support for Ukraine and its people, who were bravely defending their homeland against Russia’s brutal aggression, and called on the entire international community to relentlessly seek to ensure the accountability of Russia and its accomplice Belarus.
