FOREIGN MINISTERS OF LITHUANIA AND MONTENEGRO DISCUSSED SITUATION IN THE WESTERN BALKANS

On 5 April Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Antanas Valionis met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro Miodrag Vlahovic and discussed situation in the Western Balkans. In the meeting the Foreign Minister of Montenegro told about preparations for the referendum on the future of Serbia and Montenegro Union, which should take place on 21 May in Montenegro.

Talking about prospects of the Western Balkan countries in the European Union, Lithuanian Foreign Minister stressed that the prospects are better than ever.

“The strategy of the European Union is to leave the doors open for the EU neighbours, which are ready to undertake necessary reforms,” Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs said.

Foreign Minister of Montenegro also met with the President of Lithuania Valdas Adamkus, representatives of the Foreign and European Affairs Committee of the Seimas.  Minister Vlahovic also delivered a lecture to the Lithuanian Atlantic Treaty Association.
