Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania Antanas Valionis welcomed the results of the Polish EU referendum of 7-8 June showing that the country’s population approved its membership in the European Union.
“We congratulate Poland on completing successfully another important procedure on the way towards joining the EU. The positive outcome of the referendum shows our countries' determination to become fully-fledged members of the European Union," the minister said.
In Valionis' words, after this historic decision Warsaw and Vilnius will seek to deepen further on the strategic partnership between the two countries, whose experience should be beneficial not only to Lithuania and Poland, but the whole Euro-Atlantic community.
The minister believes that the successful referendum in Poland is yet another step in implementing the EU enlargement that aims at building a united Europe
