FOREIGN MINISTER WELCOMES PRELIMINARY RESULTS OF PARLIAMENTARY ELECTIONS IN SERBIA
Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Petras Vaitiekūnas welcomes the victory of pro-European parties in parliamentary elections that took place on 11 May in Serbia.
“Preliminary results clearly show that Serbian people have chosen the path of integration into the European Union. I hope that the Government will be formed shortly, which will consistently continue and accelerate the European reforms,” P. Vaitiekūnas said.
According to the Foreign Minister, Lithuania coherently supports Serbia’s European aspirations and believes that Stabilization and Association Agreement signed on 29 April and decision taken on 6 May by seventeen EU Member States including Lithuania to apply with maximum flexibility visa fee exemptions to Serbia will encourage closer relations between the EU and Serbia.
