FOREIGN MINISTER RECEIVED THE OUTGOING AMBASSADOR OF ESTONIA

On 9 July, Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Petras Vaitiekūnas received outgoing Ambassador of Estonia Andres Tropp.

Foreign Minister thanked the Ambassador for his input into the successful development of relations between Lithuania and Estonia, and indicated that it was necessary to continue strengthening cooperation among the three Baltic States, as well as their pragmatic ties that are based on mutual interests of the countries, and to foster their Baltic identity.

According to P.Vaitiekūnas, cooperation among the Baltic States and their achievements in implementing social and economic reforms, and integrating into the European Union, could serve as an example for other countries, seeking for democratic transformation – the countries of Central Asia and South Caucasus.

Ambassador A.Tropp has been the fourth Ambassador of Estonia, residing in Lithuania, since 19 August 2004.

Lithuania and Estonia re-established diplomatic relations on 5 October 1991.
