FOREIGN MINISTER ON A WORKING VISIT TO IRELAND

On 3 February Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Antanas Valionis went on a two days working visit to Ireland. During the visit the Minister will meet with Irish Prime Minister Bertie Ahern, Minister of Foreign Affairs Dermot Ahern, Chairman of Irish Parliament Committee on Foreign Affairs Michael Woods. During the meetings with Irish officials it is planned to discuss topical issues of Lithuanian-Irish relations, European Union agenda and international relations such as new EU financial perspective, ratification of the Treaty establishing a Constitution for Europe, EU eastern neighbours, United Nations reform. At a Conference on European Union Constitutional Treaty organized by Irish Institute of European Affairs A. Valionis will deliver a speech on the EU development perspectives. The Minister will also meet with representatives of Lithuanian community in Ireland and nongovernmental organisation “Children of Chernobyl”.
