FOREIGN MINISTER OF LITHUANIA BIDS FAREWELL TO THE OUTGOING AMBASSADOR OF KAZAKHSTAN

On 8 December, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Petras Vaitiekūnas bid farewell to outgoing Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan Tleukhan Kabdrakhmanov.

P.Vaitiekūnas thanked the Ambassador for his unresting activities developing and strengthening friendly relations between Lithuania and Kazakhstan.

Minister indicated that Lithuania and Kazakhstan had formed a solid bilateral legal basis, an intergovernmental commission was actively functioning and this provided firm grounds for bilateral cooperation.

“I am certain that our countries will make mutual endeavour seeking to benefit even more from the existing cooperation potential in the areas of economy, trade, tourism, culture, sports, education and science,” claimed head of Lithuanian diplomacy.

In the opinion of Ambassador T.Kabdrakhmanov, the visit of Prime Minister Gediminas Kirkilas to Kazakhstan in the spring of 2008 was an important impetus for the development of bilateral relations between Lithuania and Kazakhstan. He emphasized that Lithuanian was a valuable partner of Kazakhstan.

Ambassador T. Kabdrakhmanov is the fourth Ambassador of Kazakhstan, residing Lithuania. Ambassador started his tenure in July 2006.

Lithuania and Kazakhstan established diplomatic relations on 12 June 1992.
