FOREIGN MINISTER MEETS PRESIDENT OF SWISS NATIONAL COUNCIL

On 8 September in Vilnius, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania Antanas Valionis and President of the National Council of the Swiss Confederation Yves Christen discussed the topical issues of bilateral political and economic cooperation and international security.
Minister Valionis informed the distinguished guest about Lithuania’s preparedness to become a fully-fledged member of the European Union (EU) and NATO, invited Switzerland to invest more in Lithuania and reviewed Lithuania’s geopolitical situation. At the meeting, Yves Christen was also informed on Lithuania’s cooperation with the neighbouring countries.
During the conversation, the high officials exchanged their opinions that the countries should learn more about each other and pay more attention to the bilateral cooperation, especially in the areas of investment and trade. It was agreed that the opening of a Swiss embassy in Vilnius would serve this aim the best way.
