Foreign Minister Linkevičius congratulates Sweden on National Day
On 6 June, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius congratulated the Swedish Minister for Foreign Affairs Margot Wallström and all the people of Sweden on the country’s National Day.
Linkevičius noted that Sweden had been a close neighbour and a reliable partner of Lithuania. Our countries enjoy especially close cooperation in many fields, including economy, energy security and defence.
“Sweden is an indispensable security enhancer in the region as well as a significant contributor to international peace and security, especially through current Sweden’s non-permanent membership of the UN Security Council. In our region, this contribution is especially evident through our common efforts in supporting Eastern Partnership countries on their European integration way,” says Lithuania’s Foreign Minister in the letter.
Linkevičius expressed confidence that the existing strong and enduring relations between Lithuania and Sweden, as well as joint international efforts would only intensify, strengthening citizens’ security and well-being.
