Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys to attend the EU's Foreign Affairs Council

On 11 May, Minister of Foreign Affairs Kęstutis Budrys will attend the European Union's Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels.

The Council meeting will focus on Russia's aggression against Ukraine, support for Ukraine, and increasing pressure on Russia. EU foreign ministers will also discuss the situation in the Middle East and initiatives to ensure safe navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, as well as to strengthen EU-Gulf cooperation. The EU Intelligence and Situation Centre will present to Ministers an updated joint threat analysis in the context of the preparation of the new European security strategy.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andrii Sybiha, Canada's Minister of Foreign Affairs Anita Anand, and Western Balkans foreign ministers will also attend the meeting.

On the sidelines of the Council, Budrys will meet with Sybiha in a bilateral format. The leaders of Lithuania and Ukraine will sign a joint declaration by which Lithuania will commit more than 10 million euros to support initiatives related to the return of children, psychological and medical rehabilitation, strengthening the guardianship system, and ensuring accountability for crimes.
