FOREIGN MINISTER INFORMED NATO SECRETARY GENERAL ABOUT RUSSIAN MILITARY AIRCRAFT’S CRASH INVESTIGATION

On 20 September in New York Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Antanas Valionis met with NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer and informed him about the investigation of Russian military aircraft’s crash in Lithuania’s territory.

The information was also presented to NATO foreign ministers gathered in New York. The Minister Antanas Valionis emphasised in the meetings that Lithuania should investigate thoroughly the causes of the accident. The Minister assured that the investigation would be conducted constructively and conforming to Lithuanian laws and the rules of international law.
