Foreign Minister Budrys to visit Rome and the Vatican

On Wednesday, 28 October, Minister of Foreign Affairs Kęstutis Budrys will visit Rome and the Vatican, where he will meet Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani and Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, the Holy See’s Secretary for Relations with States and International Organisations.

The meeting with Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani will focus on presenting Lithuania’s upcoming Presidency of the Council of the European Union and its priorities. The two ministers are also expected to discuss bilateral relations and current international affairs.

At the meeting with Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States and International Organisations of the Holy See, discussions are expected to focus on efforts to achieve peace in Ukraine, initiatives to secure the return of deported Ukrainian children, and important symbolic anniversaries to be commemorated next year: the 640th anniversary of the Christianisation of Lithuania and the centenary of Lithuania’s first Concordat with the Holy See.
