FIRST ROUND OF CONSULTATIONS ON READMISSION AGREEMENT HELD IN MOSCOW

On 28-29 January the first round of consultations between the governments of the Republic of Lithuania and the Russian Federation on readmission of persons residing without authorisation in the territory of Lithuania and Russia respectively was held in Moscow. The Lithuanian delegation was led by director of International relations department of the Ministry of Interior Olegas Skinderskis, and his counterpart was director of the Consular department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Kotenev. During the meeting delegations expressed their remarks concerning the first draft of the agreement. The importance of speedy conclusion of the agreement was emphasised in order to boost for fight against illegal migration. The next round of consultations is set for the second part of February.
