Finland’s new Honorary Consulate in Kaunas can significantly help to cultivate an active cultural exchange, says Lithuanian Foreign Minister
On 1 July, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius took part in the opening ceremony of Finland’s Honorary Consulate in Kaunas and congratulated the new Honorary Consul of Finland to Lithuania Leonidas Donskis.
“The Honorary Consulate in Kaunas is important for the development of closer ties between our countries and enhanced people-to-people contacts. Lithuania has a strong energy partnership with Finland. Our practical partnership to implement such energy projects as the Finnish company Fortum’s investment in Klaipėda and Kaunas testifies to the fact,” said the Lithuanian Foreign Minister at the opening ceremony of the Consulate.
According to him, the new Consul is a famous academician, public figure and former Member of the European Parliament. L.Donskis will significantly contribute to bridging the gap between the Lithuanian and Finnish cultural and academic communities.
This will be Finland’s second Honorary Consulate in Lithuania.
