On 13 August, the exhibition "Message To The World. The Baltic Way: Twenty Years Later", dedicated to the twentieth anniversary of the Baltic Way, opens in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania. The exposition presents historical photos and documents, reflections of the event in the foreign media and videos of the time. Exhibition texts are in English.

“The Baltic Way was a message to the world, that nobody could stop the three Baltic nations”, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Vygaudas Ušackas said.

During the opening, Head of the restored Lithuania’s state, the Speaker of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Lithuania (Reconstituent Seimas), member of the European Parliament Vytautas Landsbergis said that in the beginning, the spirit of freedom in Lithuania was expressed by alternative culture, youth theatres, the “Rock March” across Lithuania, hikes along the river Nemunas, various environmental campaigns, and the Baltic Way was the culmination of the road to liberation. “The fact, that people came to the manifestation of an unprecedented scale, was noticed by the world. Foreign citizens saw that we were not a group of separatists or nationalists – that was a chain formed by the three Baltic nations”, V.Landsbergis stressed.
