On 10 December, as the end of the Season of Lithuania in France approaches, the Ambassador of Lithuania to France, Arnoldas Pranckevičius, invited teams of Lithuanian and French institutions who contributed to the implementation of this project to a reception at the Embassy in Paris to express his gratitude. During the meeting participants discussed the results of the Season of Lithuania in France, welcomed new cooperation ties, and shared experiences and lessons learned.
When thanking the participants for their efforts, help and friendship, Ambassador Pranckevičius noted in his speech: “The Season of Lithuania in France has offered a historic opportunity for us to present our country in France, a glimpse into the Lithuanian culture, art, science, and, at the same time, allowed us to get to know ourselves even better. We were able to see how rich and complex our history has been and that the French take a great interest in it. We have learnt that we are interesting as a modern, dynamic European state. I am thrilled that not only world-renowned artists but also many young ones who are creating modern Lithuania have joined forces with us. The great success of the Season of Lithuania in France was the establishment of institutional links with the Sorbonne University, the Louvre Museum, the Centre Pompidou, the National Library of France, and other institutions. Thus, we are hopeful that the change created by the Season of Lithuania will be long-lived and will result in sustainable partnerships.”
The meeting was attended by the President of the French Institute in Paris, Eva Nguyen Binh, and a team, representatives of the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs and the French Ministry of Culture, the Director of the Lithuanian Culture Institute, Julija Reklaitė, and her team, who worked on projects and were responsible for communication for Lithuania’s season in France, Virginija Vitkienė, Commissioner of the Season of Lithuania in France, and a team of the Embassy of Lithuania in France.
