EUROPEAN MINISTERS IN THEIR MEETING IN VILNIUS WILL DISCUSS NEXT YEAR’S ELECTIONS TO THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT

On August 29-30, Ministers and State Secretaries for European Affairs will meet in Vilnius to discuss the preparation for the upcoming elections to European Parliament and the inter-institutional relations between the Council and the European Parliament. The informal meeting will be chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Linas Linkevičius. A delegation of the members of the European Parliament will also attend the meeting.

The General Affairs Council is responsible for handling issues with an impact on multiple policies of the European Union, such as enlargement of the EU, the Multiannual Financial Framework, institutional and administrative issues. Exact topics of its meetings are decided taking into account European agenda and the priorities of the Presidency.
