EURO-ATLANTIC SECURITY POLICY COORDINATION COMMISSION HELD A SESSION AT THE LITHUANIAN FOREIGN MINISTRY

The session of the Euro-Atlantic Security Policy Coordination Commission, which was held at the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 5 September, focused on current issues of Lithuania‘s NATO membership.

Participants of the session of the Commission that is headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Audronius Ažubalis were acquainted with the report of the new Ambassador of Lithuania to NATO Kęstutis Jankauskas on the tasks to be undertaken when preparing for the NATO summit, which is expected to take place in the United States next year.

“We are glad that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Defence and other institutions cooperate closely. However, we have to continue improving our cooperation when solving NATO issues,” A.Ažubalis said.

At the meeting, participants exchanged their opinions on the potential contribution of departments of the state of Lithuania when solving key human, political and resources’ issues that arise when Lithuania aims to continue to actively participate in the most powerful alliance of international security.

The Euro-Atlantic Security Policy Coordination Commission is the Government’s joint cooperation forum on the issues of Euro-Atlantic security policy.
