In an exclusive interview with viEUws, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Linkevičius explains the position taken by EU foreign Ministers on July 19th on the situation in Egypt. In a statement, the EU calls for the release of Mohamed Morsi, Egypt’s first elected president and for a return to a democratic process as soon as possible. Minister Linkevičius confirms that the EU has no plan to cut its aid to Egypt.
“You can like governments, you can dislike governments, but there are elections for that purpose. If militaries come in and play a political role, it is not acceptable.”
