On 4-5 July in Dubrovnik (Croatia), Vice-Minister of Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Jaroslavas Neverovičius took part in the conference of senior diplomats, politicians and strategists: ‘Croatia Summit 2008 – Security, Development, Prosperity’. During the event, the most important strategic, geopolitical and security policy issues were discussed. The greatest attention was devoted to the energy security. Leaders of states and governments of 23 European countries, the U.S.A., Canada, representatives from international organisations, experts of Euro-Atlantic integration and political scientists took part in the meeting. They sought to identify ways to increase the Euro-Atlantic integration, which has proven to be an effective catalyst for positive transformation in the areas of security and internal reforms, and to aid the creation of prosperity for people. They also discussed how to guarantee the energy security, which is becoming one of today’s major challenges.
J.Neverovič in his speech indicated that the solidarity among the European Union and NATO countries and joint actions should be the fundamental principle fighting against the energy security challenges of today.
