ENERGY SECURITY CHALLENGES AND APPLICATION OF NEW TECHNOLOGY FOR NATO’S OPERATIONS ARE DISCUSSED IN VILNIUS
On 9 November, Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Audronius Ažubalis met with NATO's Assistant Secretary General Gábor Iklódy and discussed with him energy security issues, as well as the application of the newest technology and innovations for NATO’s military operations.
“Energy security in military operations is a new, but especially important sphere of NATO activities. We are one of the youngest members of the Alliance; however, since the day when we joined NATO we have purposefully worked aiming to get ready to meet emerging energy security challenges. The Vilnius-based Energy Security Centre is Lithuania’s concrete contribution to this important sphere of NATO activities,” said A.Ažubalis.G.Iklódy came to Vilnius to take part in the conference and the exhibition “Innovative Energy Solutions for Military Applications” that are co-organised by the Energy Security Centre under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, NATO Emerging Security Challenges Division, NATO Partnership for Peace and Security Programme and the NATO Maintenance and Supply Agency.
The participants of the exhibition will present possible uses of renewable energy sources, power saving and environment-friendly technology that can be applied in the military aiming to increase the combat power in military missions and during operations.
